A note to grown-ups

How can we help?

Most questions are answered below. If yours isn’t, write to us using the form at the bottom of the page. The developer reads every message.

Common questions

I paid before. How do I get the full alphabet back?

Your purchase is tied to your store account, not to the device, so it can always be brought back at no extra cost.

  1. Open ABC Letter Meadow.
  2. On the welcome screen, press and hold ⚙️ Parents until it opens.
  3. Solve the sum on the For Parents Only screen.
  4. Tap Restore Purchases.

Make sure the device is signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you originally bought with. A different account cannot see the purchase. If you bought on iPhone and are restoring on iPad, both need the same Apple Account.

Restoring needs an internet connection. If the purchase still doesn’t appear, write to us through the form below and include the order number from the store’s receipt email if you have it.

There’s no sound

Work down this list. It is usually one of the first two:

  1. Check the silent switch. On iPhone and iPad the physical mute switch (or the crescent-moon icon in Control Centre) silences app audio.
  2. Turn the volume up while the app is open. iOS keeps separate volume levels for ringer and media; pressing volume up on the home screen may not change the app’s.
  3. Disconnect Bluetooth. The audio may be going to a speaker or a car somewhere else.
  4. Close and reopen the app. If another app was playing audio at the moment Letter Meadow started, the sound can fail to take over.
  5. Restart the device. This clears more audio faults than you might expect.

If it is still silent, tell us the device and app version in the form below and we’ll look into it.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the app store. We can’t issue one ourselves, and we can’t see your payment details.

  • Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.
  • Google Play: open the Play Store → Menu → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & order history → the order → Request a refund.

If a child made the purchase without permission, say so in the request. Please write to us as well, so we know something in the parental gate let it through.

Which devices does it run on?
  • iPhone and iPad: iOS and iPadOS 15 or newer. Older iPads such as the iPad mini 4 are supported on purpose, because small children often end up with hand-me-down tablets.
  • Android: phones and tablets. The Google Play listing shows the minimum Android version.

On iPad the app works in any orientation. On iPhone it runs in portrait. On Android the app asks for portrait, though newer system software lets large-screen devices rotate anyway.

What’s free, and what does the purchase unlock?

The first twelve letters are free to play for as long as you like, with no trial period, no account and no card details. That should be enough to see whether your child enjoys it.

One purchase unlocks every remaining letter in both play modes, exploring the meadow and the quiz. There is no subscription and no second purchase later.

How do I redeem a code?

If we’ve sent you a code, for example for a review, redeem it from inside the app:

  1. Open ABC Letter Meadow.
  2. On the welcome screen, press and hold ⚙️ Parents until it opens.
  3. Solve the sum on the For Parents Only screen.
  4. Tap Redeem a code. On iPhone and iPad the App Store’s code sheet opens; on Android the Play Store’s redeem page opens.
  5. Enter the code and come back to the app. The full alphabet unlocks once the store confirms the code.

If the letters are still locked after a minute, tap Restore Purchases on the same screen.

Does it really work without internet?

Yes. Every letter, picture, animation and recording is inside the app when you download it, so a device in aeroplane mode plays the whole game with nothing missing. The app doesn’t need a connection to start either, whether or not you have bought the full alphabet.

To be precise about the exceptions: buying or restoring the full alphabet needs a connection, and when the device is online the app checks with our purchase provider whether this device has bought the full alphabet. That check identifies the device, not your child, and it is how the unlock survives a reinstall. Nothing about how your child plays is sent, because there is no behavioural analytics SDK in the app.

What information do you collect about my child?

Nothing about your child. There is no account, no sign-in, no profile, and no behavioural analytics SDK in the app watching how it is played. Nothing your child does in the app is sent anywhere.

The app does check your purchase status. Payment is handled by Apple or Google, and the check runs through RevenueCat, our purchase provider, which sees a device identifier and whether that device owns the unlock. It sees nothing about your child, and no advertising identifier is used.

Full detail is in the privacy policy. If you want to make a data request, choose “Privacy or data request” in the form below.

Can my other child use it on a second device?

Yes. The purchase belongs to your store account, so any device signed in to that account can restore it for free (see the first question on this page).

The app won’t open, or closes by itself
  1. Check the app store for an update, as a fix may already be out.
  2. Restart the device.
  3. If it still fails, delete and reinstall. Your purchase is safe: restore it with the steps in the first question on this page.

Please tell us if this happens, and include the device model and the version of iOS or Android.
